JUDGES TRAINING WORKSHOP 1
Welcome to Judges both new and already on the ladder

11th April 2026
Venue: Baginton Village Hall, Frances Road, Baginton, Coventry CV8 3AB

Purpose of the Workshop: To provide a broad level of practical education and training for judges who have begun their journey towards a career in judging THE COCKER SPANIEL 

The Workshop will cover:

Morning Session:
The Breed – Extended Standard; method of recognising type, handling and assessing the dogs being judged ;
Management of the Ring and stewards/presentation of oneself as a judge;

After lunch:
Practice Session with Examples of the breed – advice and instruction on evaluating exhibits; construction/conformation/movement;
Informal written Assessment of 1 or 2 dogs from those available in the Practice Session (optional and not to be formally assessed at this Workshop)  
Evaluation of exhibits - for the benefit of the Trainees and comparison with their written Assessment.
"Attendance Certificates for all Trainees"

This "Novice/Elementary" workshop would be regarded as a first step, progressing to the "Intermediate" level, involving more the formal
 Breed Specific 'Hands-on' training/assessment
(Judges Training Workshop 2).

JEP REVIEW
The JEP is currently under Review, Report due early 2026.

Numbers for this Workshop will be limited to 25 for the full training day.
Spectators welcome for the morning session.

Members £32.50; Non-Members £36.50 (including lunch)
Spectators - morning session only:  Members £25.00 - Non-Members £28.50 (including lunch).
